This affliction is quite common among certain zodiac signs, who almost always have an enemies-to-lovers plot in their love lives.
According to astrologer Stina Garbis, this tendency has a lot to do with their ruling planet, which governs their general approach to life. If a sign is ruled by a warrior planet or one that seeks hidden truths, it makes sense that their path to love might be rocky.
With that said, it’s likely that some zodiac signs have many enemies-to-lovers stories because they always see the good in people. If they meet someone who is a bit rough, or wants to argue or act moody, they recognize their sentimental, mushy center and know they have a soft heart.
While enemies-to-lovers relationships don’t always work out, they are a common canonical event and can also be a whirlwind of fun. Below are the zodiac signs most likely to have this kind of dynamic, according to an astrologer.
1 – Aries (March 21 to April 19)
Any Aries has had numerous enemies-to-lovers relationships, thanks to their ruling planet, Mars, which sets them up to enjoy arguments and debates, or what they might call “passionate conversations”.
“There’s a saying that the best way to get an Aries interested in you is to argue with them,” says Garbis, “and that’s why this fire sign fits perfectly into this category”. Whether it’s a bar fight or a heated text message debate, Aries never gets more intrigued than when someone makes them a little angry.
According to Garbis, an Aries will also show they like someone by instigating a mini-fight, like a love-struck playground bully. When in doubt, they resort to biting banter and sarcastic replies as a way to flirt – and love it when someone can dish it back.
“With Aries, heated text messages often turn into love confessions, and face-to-face fights can turn into a connection very quickly,” says Garbis. And before they know it, the person they were arguing with suddenly becomes their partner.
2 – Scorpio (October 23 to November 21)
Being a sign ruled by the intuitive Pluto, Scorpio is always looking for someone’s darker side. They have a built-in bullshit detector and value loyalty and truth above all, so they are known to develop a deep dislike for certain people.
This water sign also seems a bit harsh and guarded when you first meet them, which might put them at odds with their peers on dating apps and in friend groups. “They appear a bit grumpy and mysterious at first,” says Garbis. “It makes you wonder: ‘Do they like me or hate me?’”
As they become more comfortable, however, a Scorpio’s rigid exterior will start to crack and they’ll eventually let their walls down. That salty aversion can then turn into interest and, as they talk more, it might even turn into love. When they’re with an SO, they turn into the most loving partner a person can have, says Garbis.
After a lot of back-and-forth and “will they or won’t they”, Scorpio almost always ends up with the person they thought they’d never like.
3 – Pisces (February 19 to March 20)
As a rule, the sweet and dreamy Pisces is automatically drawn to sarcastic, darkly poetic, or even a bit rough people. Of course, that person often rejects them or refuses to be more than casual friends, but this water sign refuses to give up.
“Pisces is very good at turning their ‘enemy’ into someone who is a loving and humorous partner,” says Garbis. They have a deep intuition that can see through even the toughest facade, so they know when someone is truly worth their time and energy, even if the path to the relationship is difficult.
Over time, all the enemy energy dissipates and they end up being the best friends/lovers. If they get married, Pisces’ friends will make toasts about the ups and downs of their journey, but it’s all a lot of fun.
